NOW HIRING: Assistant Editor / Cinematographer

Cinesaurus is an award-winning creative studio focused on visual storytelling through video production, animation, and virtual reality. The company was founded in 2010 to tell stories that explore new horizons, share bold ideas, and inspire the future. We are based in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle.

Collectively, our videos have accumulated over 400 million views and millions of shares via Facebook and Twitter. We produce content for a diverse range of clients across tech, science, gaming, sports, and beyond, including Google, Wizards of the Coast, TYR Sport, Deloitte, and many more. And our work has been reported on by The New York Times, The Hollywood Reporter, NPR, The Huffington Post, and every blog you’ve ever heard of.

Our team is looking to add a full-time Assistant Editor / Cinematographer to creatively shoot and edit client projects, in-house originals, and behind-the-scenes video content from creative through post-production. This position begins with a full-time three-month contract with the opportunity to transition to FTE in the future.



  • Provide creative input during project brainstorming sessions
  • Work with our producers/director to understand creative direction for projects
  • Work with Director of Photography and Art Director to storyboard projects
  • Work closely with our Director of Photography / Lead Editor to plan shoots and post workflow


  • Coordinate and produce on-location shoots with production crew and clients
  • Collaborate with crew to maintain workflow and equipment for shoots
  • Operate camera and camera support equipment (RED workflow, camera gimbals, drones, etc.)
  • Assist our Director of Photography with camera support
  • Provide on-set support across camera, lighting, sound, and beyond


  • Ingest, sync, and log footage after shoots and prepare rough assemblies of edits
  • Set up project organization and file management structure for project’s post-production
  • Creatively edit videos that tell a story and engage viewers
  • Communicate directly with clients and directors to incorporate edits and creative vision
  • Collaborate or lead color grading on videos
  • Design, mix, and master sound for videos

  • Manage day-to-day communication with a diverse set of clients and internal projects
  • Work with Cinesaurus principals on continued process improvement and innovation
  • Stay abreast of latest camera and production technology
  • Research new digital distribution and marketing avenues for online video content
  • Enthusiastically jump into something new and help the team bring any project to life

Experience & Personal Qualities


  • Artistic cinematography and strong camera operation skills with RED or equivalent
  • Knowledge of production process and equipment and abilities across all areas of the full production process — from camera to lighting to sound
  • A network of production crew freelancers in place is a plus


  • Advanced video editing skills, using Premiere Pro
  • Proficiency with sound design and mixing — using Audition, Logic, or Pro Tools — is a plus
  • Proficiency with color correction and grading, using Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
  • Experience with compositing and motion graphics, using After Effects

  • Ability to work both independently and under close direction
  • An intense passion for being a part of the digital creative and filmmaking process from creative development and pre-production through post-production and launch
